About the event

We all want our kids to get together with their peers and have more healthy, screen-free fun!

CONNECT Burlingame, the BIS Parent Support Group tackling "screen struggles", is excited to present our first community action event!

One of the most important ingredients for our kids to grow up happy and healthy is to spend unstructured time together with their peers.

This event provides a safe, professional environment with all the required equipment (NERF guns, darts, obstacles, protective gear) to have dive right in.  We'll play their favority music, and basically leave them alone for 2 hours while we adults gather in the lobby and enjoy coffee and each other's company!

A few more details about the NERF PARTY:

It's ok to bring your own guns if you have them, or you can use one of ours at Aikido By The Bay (free of charge). We use ELITE, MEGA and MEGA XL darts.  Please refrain from bringing motorized guns, as they tip the playing field, or other dart systems (they tend to be painful)!

No shoes, phones, jewelry or other gadgets in the play zone (you're free to use all of those in the lobby).

Favorite games are capture the flag, free for all, or Zombie (infection).

We'll hold the event with a minimum of 10 participants!

This event is exclusively for BIS kids and their families.  All proceeds go towards covering the cost of the event.  Contributions for the cost of the pizza are appreciated!

FOR PARENTS - optional group conversation

Teen mental health has rapidly declined since the introduction of smartphones and social media around 2010, apps are designed to be maximally addictive, and regulation is sluggish to respond to the epidemic of loneliness and anxiety amoung our kids.  Learn about the latest research, discuss your own experience and share practical tools to make a difference at home - and how we can make life more exciting together!
